Questions we hear most.
Can't find what you're after? Send us a note and we'll come back inside three working days.
Send your plans or a few photos through the quote page, or book a free on-site visit. We'll come back inside three working days with a starting range, no charge and no obligation. The detailed written quote that follows is itemised by opening, with a clear price for glazing, hardware, finish and install.
Typical lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from accepted quote to install start. Replacement jobs of 5 to 10 openings usually take 2 to 3 days on site. New-builds we schedule against your build timeline.
Yes. Greater Canterbury is home, where we measure, make and install. We also deliver our joinery right across most of the South Island, from Marlborough and Nelson down to the West Coast, Otago and Southland. Installs are usually Canterbury-only, but for jobs further afield we'll supply for your own fitter, or talk it through. Free on-site measures in Canterbury.
The 300 Series is our standard residential suite: affordable, durable double glazing, tested to meet or exceed NZS4211 for very high wind zones. The 800 Series adds a polyamide thermal break inside the frame for our best thermal performance, giving you warmer frames, less condensation, and future-proofing against tighter H1 requirements. We'll recommend the right one room by room.
Double glazing is standard. From there we spec to suit the room: Low-E for thermal performance, laminated or toughened for safety, acoustic for road noise, and tinted or obscured glass where you want privacy or glare control. We'll talk through the right glass for each space at quote stage.
Yes. Frames are powder-coated in a wide range of Dulux Duralloy colours and finishes, backed by a 15-year finish warranty. Bring your cladding and roof samples to the showroom and we'll match the joinery so it reads as one considered scheme.
Yes, we do both new builds and renovations. On new builds we work to your builder's or architect's specifications and the building code, and schedule fabrication against your build timeline.
A thermal break is a polyamide insert inside the frame itself: it stops heat conducting through the aluminium. A thermal spacer is the strip between the two panes of glass in a double-glazed unit. The break addresses the frame; the spacer addresses the glazing edge. Both matter; we usually spec both.
The main drivers are the size and number of openings, the glass you choose (for example Low-E versus standard double glazing), the frame suite and finish, and how complex the install is. Doing several openings at once usually gives better overall value. Every quote is itemised, with no hidden costs.
Upgrading from single glazing to Low-E double glazing in thermally broken frames can cut heat loss through the window by up to 73% compared with single-glazed standard frames. You get a warmer, quieter, less condensation-prone home and better resale appeal, with the energy saving compounding over the decades the joinery lasts. (Estimated figure; actual performance depends on your home.)
We don't run our own finance, but there's a good route: several NZ banks offer reduced-rate or interest-free energy loans that cover double glazing and thermally broken windows, including ANZ's Good Energy Home Loan, Westpac's Greater Choices Home Loan and BNZ's Better Future top-up. They usually beat a standard personal loan, and your own bank likely offers something similar. Ask your bank, and we'll itemise the quote so it's easy to take to them. Our financing guide has the details.
For a standard like-for-like replacement in the same openings, consent generally isn't required. It's needed if you change the size or location of an opening, alter anything structural, or work on a character or heritage home. We'll flag anything that looks like it needs sign-off at quote stage.
We keep it tidy. We protect floors and furnishings, remove the old joinery carefully, weather-seal as we go, and clean up properly before we leave. We'll send simple prep notes beforehand, mostly clearing the area and taking down curtains and blinds, and we don't finish until you've inspected and signed off.
Yes. Removal, dispose-of-old, and basic make-good of the reveal are included in every replacement quote. We sort aluminium for recycling.
Aluminium is low-maintenance. An occasional wash with mild soapy water and a soft cloth keeps it looking new. Clear the tracks and drainage slots now and then, and check the seals once a year. We'll leave you a care guide after install.
5-year workmanship warranty on every job, whether we install it or supply it for your own team to fit. Manufacturer warranties on hardware (typically 2-5 yrs) and powder-coat finish (15 yr, Dulux Duralloy Plus). Glass: 10 yr against seal failure.
